FC Cincinnati and Nigerian midfielder Obinna Nwobodo has been named in the Major League Soccer (MLS) Team of the Week for his performance in Week 15 at Philadelphia Union, reports.
Nwobodo’s inclusion in the Team of the Week was confirmed by FC Cincinnati on their website.

His defensive prowess and clinical passing helped his side to a 1-1 draw away to the Union on Saturday night.He earned a spot in the Starting XI on the MLS Team of the Week in his seventh career MLS game.
His 89.7 percent accurate passing was his team’s highest total among players who played for 90 minutes.
His high mark was given with his team-highs, per Stats Perform, in total passes (58) and accurate passes (52).Also, per Stats Perform, he led FC Cincinnati in tackles (3), duels won (8), possession won (9), total dribbles (4) and successful dribbles (3).FC Cincinnati have earned 12 spots on the league’s weekly Team of the Week this season.
And since the club joined MLS in 2019, Nwobodo’s recognition is the 49th for the club on the MLS Team of the Week.

Nwobodo started his youth career with FC Inter Enugu while completing his high school education in Enugu State, Nigeria.
He was scouted while representing his high school in a football competition and later played for FC Inter in the Nigeria Nationwide League (NNL) and State FA Cup.
During a preseason friendly between Enugu Rangers and FC Inter Enugu, he put in a man-of-the-match performance that troubled the six-time Nigerian league champions, who negotiated a deal to have him join them during the 2015–16 league season.
Nwobodo was instrumental to Enugu Rangers’s eventual title triumph, providing half of the assists for Chisom Egbuchulam’s 16 goals and ending Rangers’ 32-year wait for a 7th league title.
He was a member of the Flying Eagles squad that emerged champions at the 2015 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal.
