The LGA APC Leader and leadership,
The LGA APC Chairman and Exo,
The Ward Chairmen Of Etche Constituency 1,
Stake Holders and Members of APC,

I AM NOT RUNNING FOR MYSELF;
I AM RUNNING FOR YOU.

Let me start by thanking you for your commitment, loyalty and dedication to our great Party The All Progressives Congress. Despite the crisis that bedeviled our Party from 2018 till recently, you have stood your ground and maintained absolute and ideological loyalty to our Party and our leader Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

Those who left had their reasons but you have a stronger reason for staying and supporting the party amidst undaunted challenges. You have demonstrated the highest level of Consistency and Integrity. History will be kind to you.

As some of you already know, I was born in Amaku Mba Etche in an average Etche family struggling to make ends meet. I attended Community Primary School Amaku Mba Etche, Government Secondary School Okehi and Saint Joseph Secondary School Umuaturu Where I sat for NECO and WAEC in year 2000. respectively.

My father was a driver and a civil servant at State Ministry of Information and my mother was a farmer in the village. They are highly religious and dedicated to the things of God. My father told me that education was the only way for me not to end like him. He taught me the value of respect, diligence and hard-work.

My parents suffered and struggled to train me in school. In 2003, I got admission into Abia State Polytechnic. At Abia State Polytechnic, I rallied round some Etche Students and formed the Abia State Polytechnic Chapter of the National Union of Etche Students and became the pioneer President of the Union.

Similarly, I rallied round some Rivers State Students and formed the Abia State Polytechnic Chapter of the National Union of Rivers State Students and became the pioneer President of the Union. I subsequently registered NURSS AbiaPoly at the NURSS NATIONAL and Rivers State Scholarship Board and ensured payment of the first bursary in the history of NURSS AbiaPoly. Under my tenure as NURSS PRESIDENT, NURSS AbiaPoly won the Cultural Day Competition and Miss Abia State Polytechnic competition in 2008.

Because of my passion for leadership and service to humanity, I wrote and published my first book Titled “The Role Of Youths In Nation Building” in 2004. In 2005, I wrote my second book Titled “Teenage Pregnancy & Prostitution; A National Tragedy”. I subsequently wrote and published another book in 2006 Titled ” Cultism: The Arch Enemy Of Youths”.

I was moving from one Secondary School to the other selling the books, campaigning and enlightening Etche secondary students on the dangers of Cultism, Drugs abuse and Prostitution. I organized seminars and programs aimed at motivating the students and recovering them from the streets.

By moving around and selling my books, I saw the need for a responsible and responsive leadership. I came to believe that my father was right that through education we can build a more hopeful and better Etche. I saw smart youths and kids who came from challenging background like me studying in a dilapidated Secondary School. And I vowed to make a change whenever I have the opportunity.

Because of the discrepancy between Higher National Diploma and Bachelor’s degree in Nigeria, upon graduation and NYSC in 2009,
I went back to the University of Port Harcourt and did a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s Degree respectively. I later went to Tansian University Oba in Anambra State and obtained another Bsc in International Relations.

In 2011, I got a job in Saipem Contracting Nigeria Limited. I thought I was going to be in the Oil and gas sector and possibly retire there but God has another plan for me. By divine Providence, I was appointed the Etche LGA Secretary to Council in 2014 and later a Federal Commissioner representing Rivers and Bayelsa States in the Public Complaints Commission in 2018.

As Federal Commissioner of an agency that has no capital expenditure apart from salary and wages, I investigated and resolved complaints and made PCC a voice for the voiceless and the downtrodden.

I organized the first Workshop in the History of the Commission in Rivers State where I brought together heads of Governments and Corporate Organization including Military and paramilitary agencies for one day Workshop on Alternative Dispute Resolution. I didn’t complain of funds because I was appointed to perform and not to give excuses.

From my salary and knowing that education is the bedrock of every society, I renovated the dilapidated structures of Community Primary School Amaku Mba Etche so that the children can have a place to learn.

I visited the Okehi Divisional Police Station and built a Borehole so that they won’t be buying water from outside. I gave job opportunities and skill to people within the limit of my capacity.

I encouraged and sponsored some of our younger brothers and sisters to join the military. I sponsored free medical outreaches in fulfilment of the vow I made to God when my elder sister died in 2003 because we couldn’t raise money early enough for her surgery.

My people of Etche Constituency 1 of APC family, as we prepare for 2023 general elections, it’s time for you to elect someone to represent you at the Rivers State House of Assembly. I therefore offer myself to contest for the APC ticket to represent you at the Rivers State House Of Assembly. I

I am not running for myself. I am running for you. I will listen to you and I will represent you well. When you will call me for employment opportunities, I will understand because I have been there. When you will call me to support your education, I will answer you because I have been there and I want to see you and your children flourish. I understand the importance of health and I will support you. When you will call me to support agriculture, I will answer you because I was trained by a farmer.

Some of you may not believe we can do all these things. I understand the skepticism. After all, you have heard avalanche of promises before but too many times, after the election is over, all those promises will fade away. That’s why I’m in this race to correct the impression. I am not just going to hold office but to offer the much needed leadership you have have been desiring. That’s why I AM RUNNING FOR YOU.

If, in my low moments, in word, deed or attitude, through some error of temper, taste, or tone, I have caused anyone discomfort, created pain, or revived someone’s fears, that was not my truest self. If there were occasions when my grape turned into a raisin and my joy bell lost its resonance, please forgive me. I am not a perfect man. I am a public servant doing my best against the odds. As I develop and serve, be patient: God is not finished with me yet.

I may be young but I am old enough to know that we need Change. The change will not happen if we continue to follow our old ways. You are the ones to effect the change by supporting and voting good leaders. That’s why I am offering myself to represent you at the Rivers State House Of Assembly and together, we shall change the narratives and usher in a future of endless possibilities.

Thank you and May God bless you.

Marshall Israel,
Amaku Mba Etche.
