An inaugural Anambra State Junior Athletics Championships, a two day event for the U-15s and U-17s, is slated to hold on 30th June and 1st July, 2022 at the Awka City Stadium, Completesports.com reports.
The event powered by the Anambra State Sports Development Commission will have male and female participants from all the local government areas of the state.
While speaking to Completesports.com recently, the Chairman of the Commission, Chief Tony Oli, said the championship will be huge all-round.

“This Championship will be huge in every ramification. Anambra State has its focus on talent discovery and this will provide fertile window in that regard,” Chief Oli enthused.
“Just like we have done in football via academicals which entered the 3rd edition, we want to make this an annual program that will give us Athletes bank for all Athletics events.
“It will also help us discover young talents at the right age, build a data base of potential champions and select athletes that will be representing the Anambra State at the National youth games that normally takes place in September”.
The Chairman said that by holding the championship now, the Commission considers the school calendar and long vacation, adding that Anambra State with start thinking of camping for the Youth Games in August.
